The UPLB Department of Industrial Engineering (IED) held its much-anticipated IED Graduates Testimonial and Recognition Day last August 3, 2023, at IE Room 100. The event was a culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance by the graduating students, as well as a testament to the department’s commitment to nurturing innovative engineering minds. The ceremony, which commenced at 9:30 AM, was a joyful celebration of academic achievements and personal growth.
The chosen theme for this year’s testimonial, “SOAR,” encapsulated the essence of the day—a call to rise above challenges, achieve greatness, and embrace the journey ahead with courage and determination.
The ceremony kicked off with inspiring welcome messages by the College Dean Prof. Rossana Marie C. Amongo, and former IED chair Dr. Haerold Dean Z. Layaoen. Their words set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of the theme “SOAR” as a guiding principle for the graduates’ future endeavors.
Significant highlights of the event were the roll call of graduates and recognition of significant contributions and outstanding achievements. Students who had excelled academically, exhibited leadership qualities, and made notable contributions were presented with awards. This was followed by a message on behalf of the IE Alumni by Mr. Renzie Kyle P. Catabona, class of 2019, and a dedication to the graduates by Engr. Alan Marco S. Mercado, a member of the IE faculty.
The ceremony concluded with a message of hope and inspiration from Ms. Kristine Ann F. Lerio, valedictorian of class of 2023, who encouraged her fellow graduates to take risks, pursue innovation, and maintain a strong sense of purpose in all their endeavors.
