The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) program aims to address the needs of the industry and academic institutions within CALABARZON for a graduate-level coursework focused on contributing to the body of knowledge and on enhancing existing IE techniques to better solve new and current industrial problems. It is expected to produce educators, researchers, and practitioners possessing an in-depth scientific knowledge in their chosen IE specialization.

The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) program aims to produce expert industrial engineers that are professionals, technologists, innovators, and researchers. The MS IE program envisions its graduates to:

  1.  Commit to advancement of industrial engineering knowledge as educators and researchers who partake in research projects with national and regional significance.
  2. Excel in practice as practitioners and managers who integrate advanced industrial engineering principles in designing, implementing, and improving complex systems, and in the critical decision-making processes of public and private organizations.

There are two specializations, namely: (1) Operations Management Engineering (OME), and (2) Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE).

  • The OME track will cater to the improvement of operations in various industries ranging from manufacturing, service, supply chain and logistics, health, and entertainment, among others.
  • The HFE track will address the need to consider human factors in the design of systems, specifically, the socio-technical systems which become more relevant in the transition to Industry 5.0.

A graduate of MS Industrial Engineering program:

  • has the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the forefront of a field;
  • possesses critical and independent thinking skills needed in specialized or multidisciplinary research, and in extending or redefining knowledge or practice;
  • can apply knowledge and skills in complex and unpredictable contexts, and in the development and testing of innovative solutions to resolve issues;
  • can make expert judgment and perform significant responsibility for professional knowledge, practice, and management;
  • develops new techniques or frameworks helpful in improving industrial (production, service, and information) systems;
  • conducts research studies that contribute to the existing body of knowledge in the field of industrial engineering;
  • proposes innovative research approaches in addressing unique issues in the field; and
  • effectively communicates concepts and advances in the field of industrial engineering, particularly to the scientific community.
